The Objects were one of the earlier bands from Basildon to pick up the Punk baton and lasted for the duration of 1979. The line-up consisted of: Rick Desbrouh on Vocals, John Jenkins on Guitar, Gary Smith on Bass and Martin Carey on Drums.

During their time together, the band only played one gig, at The Barstable Youth Club in the summer of 1979, from which the photos on this page are taken.

After The Objects demise in 1980, Martin Carey and John Jenkins would go on to form a band called The Hollow Screem, who would play several gigs in the Basildon area and were notable for including former Vandal Sue Pagett on Bass. When Hollow Screem split up in the early Eighties, John Jenkins would go on to form The Three Mothers, whom were based on the music of The Hollow Screem.
