Film Screening of 'The Rise and Fall of The Clash' + Steve Hooker Stripped Down Stompin' Band - Beecroft Art Gallery, Southend-on-Sea - Thursday 30th August 2018
On Thursday 30th August 2018 as a forerunner to the opening of 'Southend Subcultures' the Beecroft Art Gallery will be screening Danny Garcia's 2012 film 'The Rise and Fall of The Clash'. The film charts the ascent and disintegration of perhaps the most influential punk band of all time: The Clash.

The film documents the band's origins as the 101'ers who were contemporaries to our own local heroes Dr Feelgood to becoming along with the Sex Pistols the torch bearers of punk in the mid-70's which lead to international stardom and a performance supporting the Who. The documentary then charts the messy breakup from those who were there.

At the film's conclusion those attending will be treated to a live performance by the local legend Steve Hooker and his Stripped Down Stompin' Band.

Tickets are available for £5 from the Beecroft Art Gallery Reception Desk or Slick 50's Barber's, 113 Park Street Southend and £6 on the night. Doors open 7:30pm for 8pm start.
